Introduction
The Sir Bobby Robson School in Ipswich is a state-of-the-art education centre for youngsters with needs in the community as well as their own emotional and mental wellbeing.
The facility, which is headed by the Unity Schools Partnership, will offer up to 60 places for pupils, aged between 8 and 16 years old. The vision for the school is to provide tailored support for all students to make them ready to become effective independent people in adult life.
As well as 15 classrooms, the site includes soft play and sensory areas along with a multi-purpose hall, as well as a kitchen and dining space.
Project
A new specialised school building and facility was needed to provide more and improved SEND provisions in the local area in Ipswich. The school was named after the legendary Ipswich Town and England manager, Sir Bobby Robson, who steered the Blues to FA Cup and UEFA Cup wins, following a public consultation.
BGB provided 64 integral blind sets for the project. The door sets were provided and equipped by Dorplan. BGB was able to help Dorplan meet specialist requirements for the project.
Alongside this EGW provided 4mm Toughened Glass, 6.8mm Acoustic Glass and 6.4mm Laminate Glass to compliment the development.
